It was great to see so many teachers at the SSAT Language College conference last week. Now already looking forward to this weekend and The Language Show. It looks to be as amazing and frenetic a programme as ever. Trying to get ahead as usual, I'm posting links from SlideShare to my two session presentations here.
I'll be there on Saturday at 11.45 - 12.30 and 15.30 - 16.15.
Second presentation - 'When less is definitely more' success with the new secondary languages curriculum
There's also going to be a language teachers 'Show and Tell' session from 16.30 - 17.30. Don't miss it! Hope to see you there
Rachel
The idea that "less is more" is at the heart of a solution to our problems with teaching languages. As I see it, it involves getting certain key elements clear at the beginning, and then reaching out from these to wider issues. The key elements seem to me to be
a simple positive and negative sentence using verbs to be, to have, to make
gender and its consequences
new pronunciation and intonation
I've put a link to your blog on my own, and would be interested in your thoughts on my grammar piece.
