It was great to see so many teachers at the SSAT Language College conference last week.  Now already looking forward to this weekend and The Language Show.  It looks to be as amazing and frenetic a programme as ever.  Trying to get ahead as usual, I'm posting links from SlideShare to my two session presentations here.

Language College Conference - Thursday 7 - Friday 8 October 2010

  
A lot happening this week!  I hope to meet up with many people tomorrow and Friday in Birmingham at the Annual Language College Conference.  I have just uploaded my presentation to SlideShare (trying to get ahead of myself for once!)

Also, in case it's of interest, I spend some time at the start of the summer holidays developing our Download Year7_SOW_2010-11 further.  Alternatively, here's a much simpler Download Year 7 Spanish Scheme of Work Overview.  Quite pleased with how it's going so far!  The scheme of work itself is in excel.  When you open the document you'll see a confusing page of images of various documents that supported the planning and writing processes - for member of our dept these are hyperlinks taking them to the original document on our network so that they can refer to them as necessary.  The next two tabs in the excel document lay out the Year 7 scheme of work for our top 3-4 sets - called Dual Linguists (we set around November time) and lower 4-5 sets - called Single Linguists.  (For each lesson there are associated resources hyperlinked to the excel document - obviously these links won't work unless on our network.)

I would be very interested if anyone wanted to share their KS3 Schemes of Work.  I'm often asked if I can share Year 7 French and German SOW for example, and I never can because we teach Spanish to all of Y7!

High 5 - Series of CLIL sessions at Comberton Village College

I just wanted to flag up a series of twiligh CLIL sessions that I'm hosting at my school this this, as part of ALL South Cambs and Links into Languages East work to support teacher training and development in the Eastern Region. 
The rationale for CLIL teaching connects Content, Cognition, Communication and Culture, offering the key to deeper learning and promoting social cohesion. These 5 sessions put practice first and the 5 speakers are teachers using a CLIL approach in their teaching.
